What should I bring to my tax appointment?
Photo ID, Social Security cards or ITINs for everyone on the return, W-2s and 1099s, last year's return, and any IRS or New York State letters. Business owners should also bring income and expense records. Not sure? Call us and we'll send you a checklist.
How much does tax preparation cost?
It depends on your return: a simple W-2 return costs less than a business or rental return. Your first consultation is free, and we'll quote the fee before we start.
Do you have evening and weekend appointments?
Yes. We offer day, evening and Saturday appointments at our office at 205-17 Jamaica Ave #1 in Hollis, or by Zoom if you can't come in. For business clients, we can also meet at your office. Current hours are Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM, with evening appointments available.
I missed a deadline or haven't filed in years. Can you help?
Yes. We prepare prior-year and amended returns and bring late sales tax filings current. Penalties and interest usually grow the longer a return is late, so it's best to start now. We'll tell you what's missing and the fastest way to catch up.
I got a letter from the IRS or New York State. What should I do?
Don't ignore it; most letters have a response deadline. Bring or send us the letter and we'll explain what it means and what to do next. Our Enrolled Agents and CPAs can represent you before the IRS, whether or not we prepared the return.
Does an extension give me more time to pay?
No. An extension gives you more time to file, not to pay. Any tax you owe is still due on the original deadline, usually April 15, or penalties and interest can apply. We can estimate what you owe and file the extension for you.
Can you help me get an ITIN?
Yes. We help individuals who aren't eligible for a Social Security number apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number so they can file and claim eligible credits. Our IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent can verify your identity documents here in the office, so you don't have to mail your passport to the IRS.
Do you work with nonprofits?
Yes. We prepare annual IRS Form 990 filings and New York State Charities Bureau filings, and help with grant, funder and city agency reporting. Audits and reviews of financial statements are provided through our CPA partner.
Do you speak Haitian Creole, Spanish or French?
Yes. Our team speaks English, Haitian Creole, Spanish and French, so you can go over your return and ask questions in the language you're most comfortable with.
